Well this months #FridayDrinks was interesting...
One of the core things surrounding the tweet up is it's a casual meet with no agenda other than meeting for a drink. Because of this unstructured format, you never know who is going to show up. This has always made it exciting for me as you just don't know what is going to happen, in recent months we've had some really good numbers.

Last night, unfortunately, was not one of those nights... Or fortunately, if you consider it as an experience to remember/build on. Essentially, it would seem that everyone had other things on last night. As a result, we cancelled the main meet. I did hang around for an hour just incase anyone turned up, if you turned up after 8:30 I apologise, I did tweet out to let people know what was happening. It's worth noting that this is the first time in a year of tweetups that this has happened...

Thanks and apologies go out to Widow Cullens Well for holding the snug area for us.

What happened next

Well not all was lost, after a brief tweet conversation with @red_imp, I joined him and @MrsRed_Imp for mini #FridayDrinks at the Lincolnshire Poacher. It's been a few years since I've visited this hostelry and was greeted by a live band - great fun and talented group if not a bit too loud to encourage conversation and ended up playing to an almost empty pub. Nick and Beckie found particular fascination with Uzu for iPad.

Next Month

After the experience of last night, I don't want to change the way we do things because the ad hoc nature of #FridayDrinks is what it's all about, we shouldn't encourage people to turn up or to declare in advance that they are. My concern is that people who turn up later may be left wondering what is going on if a similar situation happens again. Can I throw out a suggestion? If you are planning to turn up but not until later in the evening, you message @FridayDrinks or me so there aren't any abandonment issues...
