September Tweetup Review

Here's to a fantastic 2nd Lincoln #FridayDrinks tweetup, with more than double the number of tweeps turning out, I think thanks must go out to the management of the Adam and Eve tavern for setting aside their front lounge area for us (and to @PipWilson for organising it).
With different dynamics to our first tweet-up, @EmilyCagle's cookies made for a successful evening. I don't know about you, but I for one am looking forward to the next one.

Although #FridayDrinks is a casual meet, there were a few topics briefly discussed. Here's a quick review:

  • Ad hock meets
Over the past month there has been a number of people getting confused over the frequency of #FridayDrinks (first Friday of the month), The suggestion was that we create a system where people can do a shout out during the month if two or more peeps wanted to do something.
It was decided that this may impact the organic nature of #FridayDrinks, so for the time being things should be left as they are.
  • Jolly Brewer Film Night
@PipWilson is in discussions with the Landlady at the Jolly Brewer to get a film night started there this winter. This is basically ready to go they're just waiting on Emma (the Landlady). Surrounding this they want to create a film discussion group as he knows lots of the Lincoln tweeps do like their films... Contact Pip for more info...
  • 60's Party
@PipWilson & some friends are in talks with some local DJs/bands to create a 60s psychedelic party on a monthly basis somewhere in Lincoln. Pip is seeing if anyone is interested in such an event - so get in touch...
  • Social Media Group
Further discussion on the idea of promoting social media in Lincoln - this will require a core team of people willing to dedicate time and resource's to organise and promote. If you are seriously interested in joining/forming a working group contact @JustinReid.
  • GeekUp
@SwitchMac joined us from Grimsby, that's some way to come for a drink! that's dedication for you. Rob talked about GeekUp which is a meet of, well, geeks... Usually with some focus on a specific technology. Rob is currently looking at venues for the next meet and may even consider moving it to Lincoln if people are interested - contact Rob for more info...

  • 4networking
@EmilyCagle has been working on bringing 4networking to Lincoln and after weeks of planning, it's finally here... If you want in; the 24th of Sept is the date to bookmark.
More information can be found on Emily's blog.

Some other notes:

  • Twitter account for #FridayDrinks: You can now follow: @FridayDrinks
We should continue using the hash tag...
  • There was comment about the lack of food available, should we run a new venue vote, change the start time, or simple note that people should eat before they drink? Comment below - thanks.
  • Do you think we should organise a Christmas meal tweetup? This will require people signing up probably at the next meet as a venue will need to be sourced along with bookings. Comment below - thanks.
  • Photos - If people want to send me any photos taken at the tweetup, I'll post them here for everyone to enjoy.
